Staff Comment - Comfort Inn, London – Vauxhall uses sensors and timers throughout the building. All internal corridors and public rooms have lights that are activated through sensors. All rooms are controlled through keycard power switches. Air-conditioning units are powered through the keycard power switch to prevent energy wastage when guests are not in-house. During our recent renovation, all rooms were installed with LED lighting and energy efficient bulbs are used in communal areas including reception and restaurant. All staff are fully trained to dim reception lighting during non-peak hours. The restaurant uses minimal lighting during non operational hours. Housekeeping are fully trained on how not to waste energy and regularly turn bedroom TVs off instead of keeping them on standby.

Staff Comment - All en-suite showers and basin taps are fitted with restrictors to drastically reduce water usage. All public room WCs and basins are sensor operated to prevent water wastage. Literature is placed in all en-suite bathrooms encouraging guests to re-use towels which are only replaced on request. Shower timers are provided in all en-suite bathrooms to encourage guests to take shorter showers and to save our environment. In the near future, guests will have the opportunity of taking a shower timer home with them, as a gift from us. Wherever possible, we use environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Disposal Rating: ★★★★ (4)
Staff Comment - All our staff are trained in being environmentally aware. Our hotel produces minimal amount of waste due to our operation as a Bed & Breakfast. Most of our waste is in the form of paper and cardboard. We work in close conjunction with a disposal company in order to ensure all waste of this kind is recycled. We encourage guests not to waste paper and only provide one sheet in our rooms. Extra stationary is only available on request at reception. Our back office staff are trained not to waste paper by means of not printing where possible and using all waste paper as scrap paper in the future. During our recent renovation, our old furniture including beds were given to charity. We actively seek to work with suppliers who minimise their packaging.

Staff Comment - All in-room electrical equipment only work on demand in order to minimise energy usage and maximise efficiency. We are always actively seeking to run our business in an eco-friendly manner. During our recent renovation, our old furniture were given to charity and not disposed off. We are soon to implement sensor operated showers in order to encourage guests not to waste water and are actively seeking to educate guests through the means of providing shower timers. We inform guests through bedroom literature to re-use towels and inform housekeeping if linen change is not required.

Staff Comment - Comfort Inn, Vauxhall does not provide any lunch or dinner facilities. The Vauxhall area has many small family run businesses, many of which are cafes and restaurants and their details are provided to our guests. We hold many menus of our local take-away restaurants and encourage guests to use this service and provide them our open plan lounge to eat in. Through partnerships with these small businesses, discounts have been established for all our guests. We advertise our local business neighbours through our concierge service at reception and strongly recommend them to all our guests. Many of our staff live in the local neighbourhood and walk to work.
