The Crowne Plaza Hanalei San Diego is located in Mission Valley alongside the San Diego River. It has 417 rooms
including 14 beautifully decorated suites, 26,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, plus the 8,400 square feet
Pavilion. Islands Restaurant featuring casual California cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Islands Sushi
and PuPu Bar, Kona Cafι, Room Service, Banquets and Catering and Employee Dining.
The Crowne Plaza Hanalei is committed to the protection and beauty of their environment. This commitment also
applies to the health, safety and welfare of its customers, employees, purveyors and neighbours. They strive to
educate, train and motivate employees to conduct their activities in an environmentally responsible and sound manner.
Their recycling system is particularly noteworthy and here are some figures of interest:

Compact florescent Light bulbs and LEDS comprise 95% of hotel Saving approximately
73,528 per year. Also implemented a Florescent Lamp Recycling System utilizing Mercury
VaporLok Containers.
Occupancy Sensor lighting is installed in public restrooms.
Installed high efficiency dryers in laundry room saving approximately 25% less natural gas
High effificiency boilers that service guestrooms use approximately 15% less natural gas

730,000 gallons per year at 5 cycles.
Linen program in guestrooms helps to save water, electricity and natural gas. This program
removes 98,550 pounds of terry and linen per year from the laundry process.
Water upon request program is utilized in all our F&B outlets.

monthly.
Through our recycling efforts the Crowne Plaza San Diego Hanalei has diverted over 122 tons
of recycling/reusable material to the landfi ll to be buried in 2008. We strive to improve that
diversion amount in 2009. We will evaluate and implement more effi cient ways to recycle in
the hospitality industry.
Yard clippings recycled through Edco Recycling. Estimated poundage kept from our landfi lls
of 20,900. This Green only dumpster allows our landscape clippings to be urned into mulch
through Edco Waste Management System.
Battery Recycling programs prevents over 2,000 batteries per year from going into our
landfi lls.

Clean Air 2500 Ionizers breakdown smoke residue to provide clean air in guestrooms.
Additionally reduces quantity of chemicals sprayed into the air.
