Earth Embassy Guest House
The Earth Embassy was founded in 2000. The first location, on the base of Mt. Fuji, currently operates the Solar Cafe
Farm and Guest House and Eden Homes. They are open year round for visitors, students and Guests.
They have a few cosy rooms in the cafe and outdoor camping in the summer. As a guest you are welcome to join in their
events and workshops, if your want to get your hands dirty, then you are always welcome to help out in the
greenhouse or the fields even if just for an hour or two.
Their Self Sufficient Goals are:
To produce all their own fruit, vegetables, eggs, herbs, etc.
To collect and use only rain water.
To recycle all of their own waste.
To reduce their energy consumption.
To produce their own energy.
To educate the world.
There are no showers on site. Bathing facilities are at Yurari Onsen Hot Springs. They are just down the road
with bathing before 9pm. A wide variety of baths are available, indoor and outdoors, herb baths, sauna, traditional
Japanese wooden bath, massage, private baths for couples and families, etc.

Staff Comment - We use low energy lighting, conserve electricity and constantly upgrade our insulations.
We encourage staff and guests to turn off light and only use electricity as needed.
Our goal is to become completely energy independent, and install wind and solar power as our budget allows.

Staff Comment - Our rural location is not on town water lines so we haul our own water and are very conservative. We collect rain water for our farm and outdoor cleaning projects.
Guests and staff are encouraged to be use small amounts of water.
Our farm concentrates on varieties that do not require irrigation other than natural rainfall in the area.

We do not provide disposable dishware.
We buy low or no packaging products when possible.
All of our garbage is separated for recycling.
We aim to educate staff and guests as to our techniques, and encourage them to seek even higher standards.

Staff Comment - We buy local food when possible and support local organic farmers through selling and promoting their
products in our shops.
Our farming techniques are very natural, using no chemical input and leaving large amounts of space for local
wildlife to remain.
Our guests come to enjoy the natural areas around the base of Mt Fuji, and we provide maps and suggestions
of what areas to hike.
We also provide opportunity for people to participate in our farming activities.
