Eco Queenslander
Experience the charm of a Maryborough Queenslander house and stay at Eco Queenslander, a self-contained and sustainable
holiday home in the beautiful heritage town of Maryborough.
Eco Quenslander is a craftsman built home which retains many original features: fretwork, polished timber floors,
French doors, high moulded ceilings, casement windows with elaborate glass, claw-foot bath, etc.
Nestled in a semi-tropical garden which also offsets the Eco Queenslander's carbon footprint,
the house was fully restored and refurbished in 2009 with an eye to environmental friendliness. The main
environmentally friendly additions are the following: 1) solar electricity system that exports extra power
generated to the grid; 2) insulation; 3) two gravity feed 5,500 l rainwater tanks on stand to avoid the use of a
pump; one is connected to the washing machine; the other one is used for watering the garden.
The house accommodates 4 – 6 people and is an ideal base for touring the Fraser Coast Region with world famous
tourist attractions: Fraser Island, whale watching, turtle watching, Great Barrier Reef with Lady Elliot Island,
Maryborough cultural heritage, etc. As part of Eco Queenslander’s sustainable home project, bicycles are available free of charge.
