explora as a company has made strong efforts to maintain ecological standards.
Their last property, explora Rapa Nui is the one of the first green buildings in Latin America.
It was awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, due to its high environmental standards.

Staff Comment - The energy saving by using special room keys, is something that we do not have. Even though, our guests spend most of the time out side their rooms. Since our lodge invites our visitors to “explore”, They spend the whole day outside their rooms, which makes not that necessary to include this system.

Staff Comment - Awareness of water consumption and staff effort to reduce it, avoidance of dangerous chemical cleaning products harmful to the environment and guests, sheet re-use program instigating guests to re-use sheets and towels to avoid over-washing, housekeeping rules to avoid unnecessary water usage and waste water recycling to ensure re-usage of waste water for watering landscape (this includes rain collecting).

Staff Comment - A basic level of recycling coupled with some staff awareness, a basic effort to avoid amenities wastage, choosing less packaging and
environmentally unfriendly materials and the use of some basic composting techniques favouring the re-usage of organic material in the garden also limiting the over-change of serving pieces (tableware,cups, etc) that are long lasting
