Ferme de Candeloup
In the foothills of the French Pyrenees, near the village of Monein, a 260 year old Bearnaise farm has been
transformed into a very special "petit hôtel". At the heart of the Bearn region, this property offers six charming
en-suite rooms and self-contained apartment, making it an ideal base from which to enjoy the area.
This is also a year-round Yoga centre and retreat with a number of dedicated weeks during the year (Program available on their website).
During the Winter, a forty minute drive gets you to the nearest ski station, which is also just a short walk to the
Spanish border. Whitewater rafting, horseriding and many other activities can also be pursued in the neighbourhood.
For those of a more leisurely disposition, Candeloup is at the heart of the Jurançon wine region,
which begs to be explored.

Staff Comment - This doesn't really paint the full picture! The amount of insulation in our building is staggering. In the void between the ground floor and the first floor it is over 500mm thick. There is over 500kgs of loos-lay in the loft. The walls of the building are 500mm thick AND they are then insulated. We use low energy lights everywhere possible. All hot water is provided from our solar panels or the aerothermic system.

Staff Comment - Our rain-water butts total 3000 litres. We use these and our own well for the kitchen garden

Staff Comment - Recycling and waste disposal here in France is much more advanced than in the UK. We compost ALL vegetable waste (and some paper/cardboard). We have recycling bins for guests to use. We are not connected to mains sewage but have a VERY advanced "fosse septique" system with peat filter tanks.

Staff Comment - 3 stars is a guess. Our hotel is brand new, in a restored 200 year-old stone barn.
ALL the bedroom furniture is second hand, carefully collected at TROC stores over the last 18 months.
We tell ourselves it's antique! :-)
