We use only energy saving bulbs and devices and encourage our guests and employees through written materials and oral to save energy also. We use solar drying areas for our laundry and sky lights throughout the buildings to avoid electric use during the day and for solar heat.

Staff Comment - We have a water treatment plant which allows us to reuse water for irrigation and plant native to the area whenever possible. We encourage our guests and employees to save water by re-use of sheets and towels and use only bio-degradable cleaning products and amenities in the rooms. We monitor our water usage in all buildings so that we can see where possible leaks may be and/or over consumption.

Staff Comment - We have recycling bins in every guest room and in all public areas. The room amenities are in re-fillable dispensers and our consumables in restaurant and hotel are bought in large re-usable containbers only. Guests are informed in their in-room information about our programs.

A greenhouse where organic vegetables and herbs are grown for our restaurant. The soil comes from composted material prepared in our recycling area.

*We would like you to know that 5% of our profits from the restaurant and bar will go to support among many projects our community schools and to Barva Volcano Sector of the Braulio Carrillo National Park.
*Our food is fresh from the market and almost exclusively bought from a cooperative of small organic and independent farmers or local merchants.
*We buy organic or biodynamic food whenever possible and every item is home made in our kitchen or in the community
*We use seasonal fruit and vegetables and all of our food is either bought locally or is native to Costa Rica.
*We recycle all organic waste into compost, and recycle or reuse bottles, cans, paper and glass
*We only use biodegradable cleaning products and we monitor our energy use and constantly try to reduce it.
*Our culinary emphasis is on Legacy Dining- celebrating Costa Rican and Central American Cuisine; recipes which have been lost or disregarded or only encountered in a typical family kitchen.
