Hotel Paradiso sul Lago
The family-owned hotel Paradiso sul Lago sits 900 metres above sea level, in a wonderful panoramic location with views over one of the nicest areas of the Lake Como (from Moltrasio to Laglio) where George Clooney owns Villa Oleandra. There are several possibilities for boat tours or hiking from the hotel or, if you prefer, you can relax by the big swimming poo, enjoy the solarium or the lake view terrace. At walking distance there is the Volta memorial Lighthouse tower with a unique view on the Alps and Lake Como.
The plentiful breakfast is served in a lake view breakfast room or on the terrace. They have a restaurant with a wood-burning pizza oven and are located a few steps away from plenty of good local restaurants.
All rooms are equipped with a minibar, satellite LCD TV, telephone, Wi-Fi internet access and a safe. Some of the rooms have balconies with Lake or park views.
The Wellness area offers the possibility of relaxing using the infrared sauna facility followed by a cold shower and the pleasure of a splash into the heated 7 x 3 m pool.

We have installed in 2010 one hundred sq. meter of grid connected Sun-power electric solar panel that are able to produce about 22000 Kwh per year covering the 60% of the hotel whole year electricity consumption.
We are going to replace during 2011 the existing natural gas condensation heater with a natural gas co-generator that will produce 5 Kw of electricity per hour and warm water for showers, heating and swimming pool at the same time, reaching in this way a coverage between the 80% and the 90% of the whole year electric power consumption.
Since 2008 we have replaced all the hotel lights with low consumption lamps and recently some of them with LED technology.
Our hotel is located at 900 meters a.s.l. on lake Como so no air conditioning is required as even during the summer the air is fresh and cool especially during the evening and the night.,We have only 13 rooms with special low consumption bulbs, so no automatic light extinguishing key is used in the rooms. Automatic light extinguishing with proximity timer sensors are installed in the hotel corridor and common toilette.

We have installed water saving devices for each shower that are mixing air with the water are reducing water consumption. For WC we are going to complete in 2011 the usage of rain collected water distributed with a separate pipes system.

We apply the zero Km concept, using mainly food, vegetables and beverage from local producers and promoting usage of tap water instead of mineral water. Some food and wine is coming from certified local organic farmers. We offer only breakfast service and wood oven cooked pizza so we use a limited set of food products.
