Sitting at the gateway of Costa Rica's bustling capital, San Jose, the Parque del Lago Hotel boasts a great hotel location in the city and serves as the ideal place for business travelers or tourists who wish to be close to everything.
Located in the elegant residential area known as Paseo Colon, today this avenue known as Avenida Dos houses a myriad of banks, hotels, business centers, and restaurants and is a vital transportation artery of the city. A five to ten minute drive down this road puts you in the heart of San Jose, where you can enjoy the hustle and bustle typical of the capital, while visiting interesting museums, theaters, shopping centers and crafts markets.
The hotel is conveniently located only 15 minutes away from the Juan Santamaría International Airport and a stepping stone away from the Interamericana Highway, the road that leads to all major westbound natural attractions. The name of the hotel, Parque del Lago meaning "the park with the lake", stems from its neighboring park, La Sabana, San Jose's " Central Park", which houses a beautiful man made lake.
The hotel Parque del Lago has been awarded four out of five “leaves” for its efforts on sustainable practices. This means that Parque del Lago is Costa Rica’s only true green business hotel and the only hotel in all of San Jose with four leaves. Only two hotels (Lapa Rios and Finca Rosa Blanca) have achived the maximum qualification of five leaves.

Staff Comment - At Parque del Lago, we have a very rigorous energy saving plan, and work diligently to improve upon it as well. The property itself runs on extremely energy efficient equipment and lighting, using the latest technologies in air conditioning and refrigeration. Additionally, all management and staff have gone through rigorous training on energy saving techniques and practices, and every year, we make sure to write up our energy saving goals.

Staff Comment - At Parque del Lago, we have implemented several measures to reduce our consumption of water. All of our cleaning and personal products offered to guests are biodegradable, and we have information for guests about water saving techniques (including a linen and towel reuse program). Additionally, all of our staff has gone through extensive training on water saving techniques and practices, and every year, we make sure to write up a list of goals for ways that we can save water.

Staff Comment - Parque del Lago has an extensive and rigorous recycling program. All areas of the hotel, including hotel rooms, are equipped with recycling receptacles, and all employees have received extensive training on waste management and recycling practices. Every year, we make sure to write up a list of goals for ways that we can reduce our non-recyclable waste as well.

Staff Comment - Parque del Lago makes a great effort to work on educating its guests on the importance of sustainability and on involving them with the local community. Additionally, Parque del Lago is the only hotel in San Jose to be certified by the CST. We promote a number of locally guided tours that go into the natural areas of Costa Rica and encourage our guests to act in a responsible manner when visiting these sites. Additionally, all of our promotional material works to educate guests about the importance of sustainability and how they can contribute to our cause.

Staff Comment - Parque del Lago works extensively to improve sustainability in Costa Rica´s capitol city San Jose, providing us with the unique opportunity to work with the issues and challenges facing the recently growth and development of this city. At this moment, we are working to support local education and a number of other community development projects that work to improve urban issues. Guests are made aware of these programs through all of our promotional material and our invited to participate and contribute.
