Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel, a select boutique nature hotel considered “the Garden of Eden” by Condé Nast
Traveller (Jan. 2007), lets you experience life at an exclusive royal Inca retreat for you stay. You also may enjoy
the benefits of a de-stress massage at our mystical UNU Spa, and participate in group eco-activities, such as bird
watching or a guided orchid walk, offered on our 12-acre grounds.
Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel occupies a private five-hectare (12.3-acre) mountainside reserve, located near
Machu Picchu Mountain, near the Aguas Calientes railroad station. With the look and feel of a rustic Andean
village, this welcoming retreat offers guests an authentic travel experience, in an atmosphere of refinement
and thoughtful hospitality. The spectacular grounds are laced with paths that wind past waterfalls and gardens;
trails wander through wild forest. This is a place to relax, while exploring nature and encountering the wonders
of the Inca civilization, feeling an authentic travel in an atmosphere of refinement, caring, and warm hospitality.
Skilled artisans built the 85-room boutique hotel, using stone, adobe, stucco, and eucalyptus beams to create a
lovely Andean village ambience. Guests follow stone pathways to their rooms, located in comfortable one- or
two-story whitewashed cottages.
The hotel grounds include more than 5 km. (3.12 miles) of ecological paths; the hotel grounds include several
spots of observation and contemplation, where flora (including 372 native orchid species), birds (192 species),
and butterflies (111 species), amongst a diversity of natural wonder.

Staff Comment - The hotel is like a small village and keeping the paths free is a priority. Currently Inkaterra is testing some ecofriendly products to keep the paths of the hotel free of moss.

Staff Comment - The NGO Inkaterra Asociación manages different programs to preserve the natural richness of the cloud forest. Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel has one of the most important Orchid Gardens of Peru, and also has a publication called ‘Orchids of Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel’, that show these beautiful species with high resolution photos and complete information.
Inkaterra Asociación runs an important conservation project and rescue center for the Andean Spectacled Bear. Also, each year, Inkaterra organizes activities with the staff on special occasions, such as the World Environment day, the World Water day, the Earth day and the World Responsible Tourism day. On those days, part of the staff and some guests clean riverbanks, plant native species, celebrate without electricity, among other activities. Each summer, Inkaterra implements an Environmental Education course for the children of the town.

Staff Comment - Approximately 70% of the perishable supplies comes from local producers; the menu of our two restaurants have interesting dishes made with Peruvian ingredients like native potatoes, alpaca, native corn and cereals.
There is a team of local guides from Machu Picchu village that are considered “friendly guides”, which are not part of Inkaterra’s staff but they receive training on interpretation techniques, knowledge and service skills.
