Staff Comment -
• Unfortunately we do not have automatic light extinguishing by use of a special room key.
• We do however have energy saving appliances and lighting – i.e. Motion sensors in storage closets to ensure lights are off when not in use.
• We use natural light whenever possible in all of our guest rooms, meetings rooms, hallways and restaurant.
• We have tents on our Terrace Patio to reduce the heat in the Terrace Ballroom.
• Employees are all encouraged to turn off lights, computers, and monitors when not in use.
• We have upgraded to compact fluorescent light bulbs.
• We do not have a written constitution but we do have a green committee with green policies as well as management commitment to ongoing green initiatives.

We use low flow showerheads and aerators on guest room and kitchen taps.
• We only use EcoSafe cleaners and a linen company that uses eco-friendly products.
• We reuse banquet linens whenever possible.

• We recycle paper, glass, aluminim, tin, plastics, cardboard, cooking fat, batteries, and toner cartridges.

• We use bulk butter, cream, sugar, salt, and pepper instead of single-serves.
• Whenever it meets Foodsafe standards, we use biodegradable products in the kitchen.
• Hotel letterhead, business cards and envelopes contain recycled content and use soy dyes.
• We use paper with at least 30% post-consumer content.
• Paper towels are only used when necessary, use of recycled content paper towels.
• We use biodegradable room keys, pens, and dry-cleaning bags.

Staff Comment -
• We have put together several different eco-activities, such as: no lights used in main areas of the hotel/restaurant on earth day and we had a staff garbage clean up of the surrounding property.
• We participate in the Buffalo laundry soap program, which recycles hotel soaps.
• Any discarded furniture, equipment and lost/found items are sold to staff or donated to local shelters.
• Use of low flow showerheads and aerators on guestroom and kitchen taps.
• All cleaning products are eco-friendly.
• We upgraded to compact fluorescent light bulbs guest rooms and hallways.
• Our kitchen has a new energy efficient dishwasher.
• Employees are offered secured bike storage and change rooms for alternative forms of transportation.

Staff Comment -
• Our Chefs focus on the use of local, organic and seasonal ingredients.
• We grow our own herb garden on our Terrace Patio.
• We participate in the OceanWise program.
