Kingfisher Ecolodge
Kingfisher ecolodge is located in the Champasak Province (the southernermost province of Laos), a place also known
as the "Emerald Triangle" being the crossroad between Laos, Thailand and Cambodia.
Kingfisher ecolodge offers its guests a comfortable, intimate experience in an exotic natural setting that
includes the unique northern wetlands of Xe Pian NPA (Natural Protected Area).
The ultimate goal here was to meet the expectations of travelers looking for a different kind of tourism,
one that wants to experience the unique and relaxing environment and enjoy the natural sights like grazing buffalos
and elephants.
The lodges were designed by Vincent Fischer Zernin and built using traditional building materials and
techniques blended with modern concepts and architecture. The front wall of the rooms is made of
glass so that guests can admire the landscape and the surrounding nature and enjoy a great sense of space.
The hot water (solar powered) shower room, which is separated from the toilet area, has a view to the deep green
and blue colour shades of the wetland. Bungalow lighting is supplied by an individual solar system; all rooms
have a ceiling fan and electrical plugs.

Staff Comment - Almost all of our light bulbs are 8Watt low consumption ones. We do not have special room keys. We switch off refrigerators
that are not needed during night . Path lights ar switched off at night and a flash light is provided in room for emergency use. Lights
in the room are provided by solar system as well as the hot water. Staff is educated to switch off all not necessary lights and
appliances but wedo not have a written constitution.

Staff Comment - Food scrap is used to feed chickens and ducks. Metal, carton, plastic, glass and alluminum is collected and recycled.

Staff Comment - We set aside 5% of our income generated by sale of eco activitis (trekking, elephants, ect...) in order to support the local primary
school. We have created eco activities which are described in our website.

Staff Comment - We offer different activities to discover the local area. Whenever possible all supplies are locally bought as well as we hire local
staff.
