Saharan Camp Atta
The Atta Camp is a luxury desert camp perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of city life. Set in the impressive
tassilis landscape, close to the Nomad village of Remlia, this Saharan camp provides intimacy for private groups
or for honeymooners looking for something different in Morocco.
Guests stay in traditional Nomad tents, renovated and transformed into comfortable double rooms.
After a walking tour or an excursion, the desert camp provides all the comforts including hot showers and
traditional Moroccan tajine dinners under the stars – rare luxuries in the middle of the Moroccan desert.

Staff Comment - The Sahara camp minimises energy consumption. There is no electricity; only candles lighten the camp.
Water Rating: ★★★ (3)
Staff Comment - As the camp is implemented in the Sahara desert, we have to pay attention to efficient water consumption. We set up dry toilets and we instruct our staff and guests on low water use, as water has to be delivered from a close water source. Therefore, our shower system is traditional but ecofriendly. Hot water is limited on 2 litres per day and person and we ask our guests to re-use sheets and towels during their stay.

Staff Comment - We sensitise our guests and do waste separation. Organic waste is given to goats, and paper waste will be used to heat local ovens to bake bread. Non-biodegradable waste is brought back to Ouarzazate to be disposed properly. There a waste bins to collect small waste, which is also send to Ouarzazate. Our staff, especially our guide had been trained to communicate their ecofriendly behaviour to our guests.

Staff Comment - In every tent room our guests find our instruction for responsible travelling and behaviour in the desert.
We also sensitise our employees and local people we are working with, e.g. we limit the amount of washing agent
for cleaning the camps linen and towels on 1 cup per session.
However, we encourage low impact transportation means for supplying our camp.
Tables, chairs, wardrobes, bowls, etc. - the equipment in the camp is made of natural and handcrafted materials.

Staff Comment - As we want to offer an authentic and ecofriendly experience, we invest in the restoration of traditional Nomad tents of the Ait Atta tribes. Built of traditional goat hair tents, held up by a central pillar and tension wires the camp is authentic in structure with all the modern comforts.
The team consists of a French speaking guide and a cook both of whom are Berbers of the Atlas, the camp is under permanent surveillance by an Ait Kabbach from Remlia and all other members are locals and are a fount of information, who welcome our guests in true Berber style. Each day is dedicated to a new discovery: on foot, in all terrain vehicles, learning nomadic daily customs (taguela making, looking for water, participating to the souk at Remlia), and the camp itself offers a cultural centre dedicated to the Ait Khabbach culture, neighbouring sites, infinite dunes…
